Katarzyna Tomaszewska
I am an award-winning portrait and figurative artist from Poland specializing in highly detailed works in pencil.
After graduating from Academy of Arts in Wroclaw and Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, i have worked as a graphic designer in advertising agencies in Switzerland and Austria. Following my graduation from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and doctoral degree in drawing, I was confirmed in my decision to continue my professional journey as an artist. Since 2010 I have been taking part in international art competitions and exhibitions. In 2011 I won my first prestigious award – The International Association of Art (IAA) Europe Award.
I have always been interested in portraying reality. I look for inspiration in the nature of the observed fragments, mostly on events taking place in my immediate surroundings. My works shows intense moods and relevant experiences, that accompany me in the act of creation. I try to change various elements in my projects, checking their purposefulness and artistic usefulness. I believe that every manifestation of creative activity – especially in the visual arts – has its optimal scale, at which it affects the recipient the most.
In my works I try to explore this relationship using realistic drawing and exposing society to art. I care about focusing on artist’s recognizable style as an important factor of influencing society perception. In my drawings abstract elements, as well as realistic drawing, are strongly considered – visually and psychologically. That style cannot be collapsed into one way of seeing my work. It is a combination of classical art and something entirely new.
