Orion Righard
Orion Righard is a Swedish artist, born 1969.
After litterature studies at the university in Lund, he continued with art studies at the Royal Academy of Fine arts in Antwerp, Belgium, Kostfack, Stockholm, Sweden and The Academy of Fine Arts in Breda, Netherlands.
At the studies he met his wife and collegue, the artist Ingrid Forfang with whom he got three children.
After the studies they moved from Belgium to France, then Norway, Sweden and now they live in Spain.
Orion Righard has been working full time as and artist since his art exam in 1996. His works has been exposed on many places in Europe in art halls, museums, but mostly in private art galleries.
He is mostly known for his expressivly drawn works of a halfnude king in a sharply yellow crown and suit. Through symbolic postures and scenes or quite often with a text or a dialogue between the king and his child, Orion is working with existencial questions with humour and humanity.
Orion Righard is using many medias for his work. Drawing, painting, sculpturing, performances, and he has a huge oeuvre of graphic art in litography, digitaly drawn graphic art and recently Silk screen prints made in a collaberation with Fallani in Venice. The two editions ”Towards Happiness” and ”Don´t give up” has been made so far.
